Storage Tips to Extend the Life of Your Bread Storing bread in the refrigerator prevents it from getting moldy. Bread stored in the freezer stays softer. Bread should be stored in ziplock bags in a cool, dark and dry environment. When the bread is put in the bag while it is hot, it becomes moist and moldy. Frozen bread should be consumed within 3 months in order not to lose its flavor. If water particles due to evaporation are seen in the bag in which the bread is placed, the bag should be changed or the bread should be stored wrapped in a clean paper towel.
